My Holiday/Break

Hi blog…I am sure you have missed me!! Well, I am back. As my computer had kindly informed me that I had a minimal amount of storage available I decided that this was a good time to add whatever was required to continue using my computer safely. After a number of days absence my computer is now ‘good to go’ – I can continue to write to my heart’s content!!

In fact, upon my computer’s return I had a little difficulty accessing the admin for my blog. The great support from both the customer service and technical support teams at Ventra assisted in this regard! VentraIP Australia is a large web host and domain register in Oz. I was certainly impressed with their service and willingness to help.

4 week break

My kind boss has decided that a 4 week holiday/break is essential. The past 2 years have definitely been among the most challenging – like a rollercoaster or deck of cards; you never knew what was in store!!

Even thought I was looking forward to my holiday – I was uncertain as to how I would cope with a 4 week break at home. I am a DOER, and rest and I have never been friends, in fact for many years I seldom considered rest important.!!

Well, I have now done a 180 degree turn – I have realized that REST is indeed DOING SOMETHING it is essential and most beneficial for restoring health and vitality. In fact, I recently found a beautiful Italian phrase – Dolce Far Niente – enjoying being in the present, pleasure in relaxing.

At the start of my holiday I had a serious discussion with my brain, reminding it that rest and relaxation are my goals….furthermore my internal alarm clock can also benefit from a break.

Unfortunately no one has informed the resident crow that I am currently having a break and that early rising is not on the cards. The roof area just above the bedroom is apparently the best place for seeking a mate……the raucous calls begin early and continue for some time.

Consequently, I have resolved to find the best possible online platform where I can submit a profile for my lonely crow. ‘Hook up’ sites are to be avoided as my crow is seeking a permanent partner and, if possible, a family.

Pacing Myself

As I tend to procrastinate re paperwork I decided to spend time during my initial week completing reviews for general practitioners, accounts and claiming bulk bills through my Eftpos machine. Yes, it is work but necessary to complete; so I decided to use half the day, with breaks, for the paperwork, and to chill the rest of the day. So far so good.

I have not rushed to any of the Boxing Day Sales. I have enough possessions and the few items I require can wait! In fact, I feel physically ill when I see the extravagant indulgences of the super rich – a yacht for 50million would feed many starving people!

At last ‘nanny naps’ and I have become friends. I fell asleep the other day while listening to my iPod. I was uncertain as to whether or not I had slept and then accidentally located an app on my watch which recorded sleep automatically – I had slept for 1 hour and 8 mins. Yay – obviously needed it!!

I have rediscovered the joy of reading for fun. I generally become so engrossed that it is hard to stop reading – especially when I am enthralled. I am also relishing the opportunity of listening to a range of music without time intruding. No multitasking – I allow the music to ‘wash’ over me!

I have increased my walking and begun a little yoga. I prefer to walk unencumbered so my mobile phone stays at home; thus I can be in the moment and aware of my environment.

I am learning to listen to myself and go with the flow. At times I experience disbelief that the day is mine…to do whatever, whenever! I am not being dictated to by time!! I AM THE BOSS.

Before any clients become concerned – this does not imply that I intend retiring any time soon – but that I am currently enjoying Dolce far Niente.

Take care, stay safe, remember that smiling and laughter are good for all of us.
